Group tours

Get to the bottom of the secrets of the government bunker together with friends, colleagues or club members. After prior registration via Ahrtal-Tourismus, our group tours offer you the opportunity to discover the unique architecture, impressive technology and detailed protective measures that were intended to maintain Germany's ability to govern in an emergency.

Important information for groups:

Group tours are offered for a maximum of 25 people. Larger groups are divided and start every 15 minutes to ensure an intensive experience.

Group visits are possible all year round (except Mondays), but only by prior arrangement

The guided tours can be booked in German, English, French, Dutch, Spanish or as an inclusive guided tour in simple language.

Details and information for school class tours:

  • Guided tours are possible all year round (except Mondays).
  • Age-appropriate care from the age of eight.
  • The museum educational tour costs €50.00 per group (up to 25 pupils).
  • The entrance fee is € 8.00 per pupil.
  • Larger school classes are divided and run in parallel to improve the experience for everyone.
  • The tour lasts approx. 90 minutes and can be attended without prior knowledge.

Family tours

We make the bunker tour an experience for the whole family. Parents, grandparents and children discover the government bunker together. History comes alive for everyone in the endless corridors and rooms. With a suitcase full of original objects that will amaze young and old alike, this excursion is a special family highlight that unites the generations.
Every first Sunday of the month (from April) at 12:00 noon.

Special guided tours in the government bunker

From the time it was built until it was abandoned by the Federal Cabinet in 1997, the government bunker was sealed off from the public, its gates weighing tons were locked and the contents of the NATO exercises were top secret. In our special guided tours, you will not only learn the secrets of the bunker complex, but also experience today's memorial to peace from a variety of perspectives.

Classified - Secret - Top Secret

This tour takes you to areas of the museum section that have never been shown before. We take a look behind gates and doors and enter a still secret underground world. You will also learn about the various degrees of closure and find out why some of the government bunker's files are still locked.

  • For individual visitors from April every first Saturday of the month at 2:00 pm

Team event: Top Secret - Top Spy

How secret was the bunker really, and what did the other side know? Were there spies in the government bunker during construction or during operation? Learn all about agent activities, crypto methods and stay attentive, because at the end of the tour you will solve a quiz as a team and you can try out your own espionage skills.

Flashlight tour

Lights off, flashlights on! Experience the government bunker in this special mystical atmosphere. The guided tour will give you goose bumps and is an unforgettable experience for children and young people - but also for adults.

Experience three secret places of the Cold War in one day

The unique "Eifel Bunker Tour" turns back time and takes you back to the period of political tension between East and West. It gives you an insight into three extraordinary original locations that were built for a nuclear war. In addition to the government bunker in the Ahr valley, discover the crisis centers of the North Rhine-Westphalian state government and the state central bank, which were intended to ensure the stability and ability to act of the government in the event of war.

Ein modernes Gebäude im Industriedesign mit großen rostfarbenen Metallpaneelen und orangefarbener Beleuchtung. Der von Bäumen umgebene Eingang ist von schmalen rechteckigen Fenstern und Außenleuchten im Boden flankiert.
Ein alter Untersuchungsraum mit Stehlampe, Stuhl und Vorratsschrank befindet sich unter blassgelben Wänden. Daneben hängt ein altes Foto. Die Öffnungszeiten sind zur Bequemlichkeit der Patienten diskret an der Tür angebracht.
Ein schwarzer Mannequinkopf mit einem metallischen runden Vorsprung als Mund wird auf einem silbernen Sockel präsentiert, um dessen Hals ein rotes Kabel elegant gewickelt ist. Vor einer strukturierten grauen Wand spiegelt er während der Öffnungszeiten der Galerie einen künstlerischen Ausdruck von Modernität und Stil wider.
