Secrets of the Eifel

Event date:

Reading from the ENDLICH EIFEL Bugazin Volume 9 and regional texts about the Ahr Valley

On Friday, April 11, 2025 at 6 p.m.
Admission: 12 euros (tickets on site, registration required))

The Eifel is a region full of secrets, mysteries and enigmas. Between vast landscapes with volcanic origins, dark forests and deep valleys, there are many exciting stories to discover. The new ENDLICH EIFEL Bugazin has compiled some of them.

The two bugazine makers Stephan Falk and Jeannette Fentroß take you on a journey to the celestial bodies of the Sternengarten in Mechernich, where the stars seem to shine a little brighter than in other places.

There are many mysterious things you can experience as a household liquidator in the region - because: Eifel people throw almost nothing away!

What was once a secret construction site for a city in the mountains has now become the government bunker documentation site, whose history sends shivers down the spine.

The inhabitants of Wollseifen suffered from the atrocities of the Second World War and had to leave their village. These sad events should not be forgotten.

Numerous mystical stories and legends surround the striking rocky outcrop in the Teufenbach valley. Brave climbers, a cursed goblin and an enchanted fisherman were on their way to the legendary Bunte Kuh.

The Précoce de Malingre is an Ahr Valley rarity. The white grape variety grows on the stony clay soils of the Pfaffenberg vineyard in Walporzheim.

Bunker wine can be enjoyed during the reading. The two bugazine makers look forward to exchanging ideas with guests.

Before the reading, the government bunker can be visited as part of a guided tour (by prior arrangement) (admission: 13 euros, admission 16:30, duration approx. 60 minutes).

The ENDLICH EIFEL Bugazin® series now comprises nine volumes and will be continued. The first three volumes came from the Vulkaneifel region from Eifelbildverlag in Daun. Since summer 2021, the ENDLICH EIFEL Bugazin® series has been published by Eifeler Literaturverlag (ELV) in Aachen. With a great passion for the region, many creative minds are behind this heartfelt project as a creative team together with the two Bugazin makers. Each volume focuses on a different topic and together they make wonderful handbooks about the lovable and liveable landscape between Belgium, Luxembourg and the Rhenish Bay or Aachen, Cologne, Koblenz and Trier. The volumes are presented with Bugazin® readings throughout the Eifel.
Die Bugazinmacher: Stephan Falk is co-author of the 1980s novel KREIDEHERZ and the travel guide Glücksorte in Ligurien. As co-author of the travel books HeimatMomente KÖLN and BONN, Jeannette Fentroß takes readers on adventures far from the beaten tourist track.
