“Eifel Bunker Tour” 2026

September 13 and 27 and October 11 and 25

Day tour to three historic nuclear bunkers - including bus trip, guided tours and catering

As part of a day tour (9.45 a.m. to 6 p.m.; starting and finishing point is Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler), three nuclear protection bunkers will be visited. In addition to the two government bunkers of the federal government (in Bad Neuenahr-Ahrweiler) and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (in Kall-Urft), the protected alternative headquarters of the State Central Bank of North Rhine-Westphalia (in Satzvey near Mechernich) will also be visited.

All three facilities - despite their former purpose - are within easy reach of each other. Easy to reach by coach within an hour, the tour starts from the government bunker in the Ahr valley to Urft to explore the comparable facility of the North Rhine-Westphalian state government. A snack and a film about the Ahrweiler government bunker make the journey there entertaining.

The guided tour there also describes the crisis management for the federal state, where the Landeszentralbank's temporary headquarters were also located. A visit to the Landes-Banker bunker then provides a practical insight into the organization chart for wartime emergencies.

Today, the bunkers are memorials and tell a living story about the time of nuclear deterrence. In addition to the technical explanation, the guided tours also explain the tactical and political task that was to be ensured from these facilities - a special kind of journey through time!
