In the middle of the idyllic Ahr Valley, a huge nuclear bunker from the Cold War era is hidden beneath the vineyards. It was intended to ensure the state's ability to act, even in an emergency. Of the 17.3 km bunker complex, 203 meters can still be visited today as a documentation site. The museum is run by the non-profit organization Heimatverein "Alt-Ahrweiler" e. V.
